Frequently asked questions

Dictation, prices, taxes, offline, signature: the short answers. Another question? Write to us.

Does it work without cell coverage on the job site?

Yes. Capture (dictation, photos, notes) is offline-first: everything is saved on your phone and uploads automatically when the network comes back. A dead zone is a normal case, not an error.

Does the AI make up prices or quantities?

No. The AI uses YOUR price library. If a quantity wasn't dictated, it never invents it: it adds it to a list of open questions. Uncertain lines are flagged for review.

Are my province's taxes handled?

Yes: HST (NB, NS, PE, NL, ON), GST + QST in Quebec, GST + PST elsewhere. Rates are applied automatically and itemized on the quote.

Does Devik manage my job calendar?

Partly, and deliberately so. You set a start date, a duration and an assigned member; you see your jobs by week or by month; an .ics export sends them into Google Calendar or Apple Calendar. There is no drag-and-drop, no dispatch, no timesheets, no GPS and no two-way sync: Devik feeds your calendar, it does not replace it.

How does my client accept the quote?

They get a link (email, SMS or WhatsApp), review the quote online, download the PDF and sign with their finger with consent. You're notified immediately, with a timestamp as proof.

Can I collect a deposit at signature?

Yes. If your quote carries a payment schedule (30/40/30, 50/50…), the first step is invoiced as soon as the client signs, and they can pay right away — by Interac e-Transfer or by card. The terms are shown BEFORE they sign, never after. And paying stays optional: their signature is valid either way.

Does Devik collect my clients' money?

Never. If you enable card payments, the money goes DIRECTLY to your own Stripe account: Devik never holds it. You carry the transaction fees and any disputes, as you would with a terminal. Interac e-Transfer is presented first — it costs you nothing.

Can I invoice a service call with no quote?

Yes. A standalone invoice is created directly: same number sequence, same tax, same portal, same reminders, same export. It stays out of your quote statistics, so your acceptance rate stays accurate.

Can I reply to clients by text from Devik?

No, and that is deliberate. Text is a signal alongside email: sending a quote, reminders. The number is not monitored — a reply gets an automatic message pointing back to the link or to your phone. No inbox, no campaigns.

How do I know whether I made money on a job?

You enter expenses as you go, with a photo of the receipt taken at the counter. Devik compares the planned cost — the one from your library — with the real cost and shows the gap in margin points. An employee can enter an expense without ever seeing your margin.

Can I serve English- and French-speaking clients?

Yes. Each quote has its own language: a francophone contractor can send an English quote (and vice-versa). The interface, PDF and portal follow.

Where do my starter prices come from?

At sign-up, your account is pre-loaded with 30 to 50 realistic items for your trade in Atlantic Canada — clearly marked as starter values to adjust to YOUR prices.

Do site photos travel with the quote?

Only the ones you pick, one at a time: by default a photo stays internal. The ones you publish are re-encoded before they go out — GPS location and capture time do not travel with them, and your original stays untouched.
